Classroom Technology and Innovation Refresh Process
UC San Diego, like many schools, is challenged to keep their classroom technology up-to-date. In this presentation, we will discuss the unique refresh cycle that continues throughout academic sessions and allows for rapid innovation adoption. This aggressive refresh cycles upgrades one classroom every two weeks. At the end of the two week process, the room has been completely upgraded and is brought back online. This rapid refresh model allows technology that has been successfully piloted to immediately be populated into the refresh cycle for rooms moving forward. This panel will discuss the hurdles and pitfalls for the refresh process; and how communication and transparency amongst the UC San Diego community has addressed some of these issues.

Planning an Academic Technology Ecosystem: A panel of different perspectives
In this session, academic technology professionals from different campuses will discuss their approach to offering academic technology software and services at their institution. One end of the support spectrum is the perspective of standardizing technology tools to allow optimum support to faculty. In contrast, the other perspective is to offer faculty choice, which sometimes means supporting duplicate tools (e.g., TurnItIn & Safe Assign; ProctorU & Respondus Monitor; Zoom & Collaborate). What are the pros and cons of each approach? What are the challenges and opportunities in each case? Come participate in this lively facilitated discussion.

Strategies for Effective Project Management in Online Course Development
In the academic course work for instructional designers, ADDIE, SAM, and other ID models are generally at the core of the curricula and provide the critical foundation to best practices. However much of the process for delivering engaging, effective, online courses on time and within budget lies more in the domain of project/contract management and organizational dynamics, including; but not limited to: managing client expectations, clear definition of roles and responsibilities, defining scopes of work, client dependencies, approval authorities, review cycles, the change request process, and their impacts to schedule. The panel will discuss how to mitigate these challenges with project management strategies focused on the online course development context.
